“Few would fault the Sri Lankan Government for having failed to strike a deal with the intransigent and violent LTTE, but many would wonder, point an accusing finger and lay blame if we fail to strike a deal with the moderate, non violent, non LTTE, democratic Tamil political leaders, like Anandasangari, Douglas et al.”
The war is over and won all credit to the armed forces and the Commander in Chief. The LTTE is finished and the task before us now is to unite a polarized society and create a new Sri Lanka, with a Sri Lankan identity that accommodates the full linguistic, religious and cultural diversity of Sri Lankan society. The challenge is to ensure that the Sri Lankan state reflects this rich diversity of its society. (more…)
