TULF leader V. Anandasangaree has in a letter to President Mahinda Rajapakse raised concerns over the persons of an armed political group in Jaffna. He alleged that according to civilians in Jaffna this group carries arms next to check points manned by the Army.

Colombo, 31 December, (Asiantribune.com): In a letter to Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapakse, it has been pointed out the numerous hardships people of Jaffna are presently undergoing and sought immediate redress.
V. Anandasangaree, President – TULF who wrote the letter has urged that Sri Lanka President has to listen to the problems of the civilians from various people without depending on one or two persons.
He said, “ I have nothing against any individual. But to what extent you can depend on one or two for matters relating to the North and whether you should also consult people like Mr. D. Sithardthan, Mr. T. Sritharan, me and such others is a matter for you to decide.” (more…)

ஆறு வாரங்களுக்கு முன் தங்களை சந்தித்தபின் இரு தடவைகள் யாழ்ப்பாணம் விஜயம் செய்துள்ளேன். முதல் விஜயத்தின் போது நான் பேசிய ஒரு கூட்டத்தில் உள்ளுரில் பிரசுரமாகும் ஓர் பத்திரிகை செய்தியின்படி ஆயிரத்துக்கு மேற்பட்ட மக்கள் கலந்து கொண்டனர் மக்களின் பல்வேறு பிரச்சினைகளை கவனிப்பதற்கு யாரும் அங்கில்லை. ஓர் இருவரிடமிருந்து மட்டும் விடயங்களை அறியாமல் பலரிடமிருந்து கேட்டுக்கொள்ள வேண்டுமென விரும்புகின்றேன். யார் மீதும் கசப்புணர்வோடு இதை நான் கூறவில்லை. ஆனால் வட மாகாண விடயங்கள் சம்பந்தமாக இரண்டொருவர் கூறுவதை நீங்கள் எவ்வளவு தூரம் நம்புவீர்கள் என எனக்குத் தெரியாது. ஆனால் திருவாளார்கள் சித்தார்த்தன், ஸ்ரீதரன் மற்றும் என்னுடனும் கலந்தாலோசிக்க வேண்டுமா என தீர்மானிக்க வேண்டியது நீங்களே!

Not interested in inviting Tamil National Alliance

A broad alliance of Tamil political parties, sans the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), has been formed with the intention of addressing the concerns of the Tamil community in the country, Leader of the People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) D. Siddarthan said.
The parties that have so far agreed to be part of the alliance is Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) and Leader of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) V. Anandasangaree who has been appointed the General Secretary of the alliance.
When contacted, Anandasangaree confirmed that he had accepted the General Secretary post and would look at expanding the alliance by having discussions with other Tamil political parties.
“An invitation was extended to me by the PLOTE and EPRLF Leaders to join the alliance. I have accepted the post of General Secretary and we will look at expanding the alliance in the near future,” Anandasangaree said.
PLOTE Leader Siddarthan told Daily Mirror that the purpose of this alliance was mainly to unite all Tamil parties with a common purpose and parties who agreed on common programs for the improvement of the Tamil community.
He also said the alliance was expecting to hold discussions only with democratic Tamil parties which is why the TNA would not be allowed to join.
“We are not interested in inviting the TNA as they are proxies of the LTTE. We are also hoping to have discussions with the EPDP soon to extend an invitation to join the alliance,” Siddarthan said.
The new alliance which has now been registered with the Elections Secretariat as a political party has been named as the Democratic Tamil National Alliance. The alliance also hopes to contest all future elections under this new name.
Although the alliance was not registered as a poltical party until early this week with the Elections Secretariat, members of the alliance had contested the Eastern, North Central and Sabaragamuwa elections as a united party.

The Tamil United Liberation Front leader Veerasingam Anandasangaree lambasted the Tamil National Alliance as a bunch of bluffs who were trying to hoodwink the LTTE and trying to take the Indians for a ride.
The TULF leader commenting on the issue of deporting the TNA Parliamentarian M.K. Sivajilingam from Tamil Nadu told the Sunday Observer that the TNA members were a bunch of blufts and they were manipulated by the barrel of the gun of the LTTE. (more…)

COLOMBO: Making a strong plea to the people and leaders of Tamil Nadu to pressure the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam to free innocent people caught in the war zone, Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) leader V. Anandasangaree says the war between the Sri Lankan forces and the LTTE is in its final stages and the trapped citizens are desperate to escape the clutches of the outfit. In an open letter, he claims: “The war that started about 200 miles away from Pottuvil in the Eastern Province has now reached a point from where the end is only about 10 to 15 miles from Kilinochchi in the Northern Province.
