The TULF President V. Anandasangaree, in a letter to V. Prabhakaran, has made yet another appeal to him on humanitarian grounds, to deviate from the path of violence, that he has treaded on for close upon three decades, which in its wake has caused much death and destruction, in this once peaceful country. He appeals to him to realise his folly even at the 11th hour when the tide is fast turning against him. This letter was published in the The Island of the 21st and 22nd Feb. 2008. Anandasangaree’s letter gives a clinical account of the atrocities committed by Prabhakaran and his ruthless cadres.
All that he has focused on is the truth and nothing but the truth. One wonders how this blood thirsty criminal in the Wanni would respond to it, knowing his past track record. Your guess is good as mine, will it be just pouring water on a duck’s back? Will Mr. Sangaree’s most meaningful letter amount to throwing pearls before swine? All right thinking people appreciate his sincere effort to convince the ‘Sun God’ to wake up to reality at this hour of need. What ever the outcome of this letter, the silver lining is that it should serve as a wake up call to all internal and external forces, whose sympathies are with this ruthless criminal and his terrorist outfit, for reasons best known to them. Time is fast running out, its high time they wake up to reality, failing to do so would be disastrous, and history would label them as traitors who worked hand in glove with the world’s most ruthless terrorist organisation.

TULF leaders says peace talks with LTTE no longer necessary
United Nations Security Council should help Sri Lanka government to defeat LTTE from their strongholds, a senior Tamil politician said.
Tamil United Liberated Front (TULF) leader, V Anadasangaree, told BBC Sandeshaya that the government should take control of Mulativu and Kilinochchi from the Tamil Tigers. (more…)

நல்லெண்ணத்துடன் உங்களுக்கு பல கடிதங்கள் அனுப்பியிருந்தும் அவற்றுக்கு உங்களிடமிருந்தோ அன்றி உங்கள் சார்பில் வேறு எவரிடமிருந்தோ பதில் எதுவும் கிடைக்கவில்லை. உங்களது கொடூரமான நடவடிக்கைகளால் நீங்கள் ஏகபிரதிநிதிப்படுத்துவதாகக் கூறிக்கொள்ளும் தமிழ் மக்களுக்கும், அரசியலில் அக்கறை கொள்ளாது தம் அலுவல்களை மட்டும் கவனித்துக் கொண்டு உங்களுடன் எந்த விதத்திலும் முரண்பாடில்லாதிருக்கும் அப்பாவி சிங்கள கிராமவாசிகளுக்கும், எனது ஆலோசனைகளையும், எச்சரிக்கைகளையும் மீறி நீங்களும் உங்கள் போராளிகளும் கொடூரமான செயல்களால் பெரும் துன்பத்தையும், நஷ்டத்தையும் தூரதிஷ்டவசமாக தொடர்ந்தும் ஏற்படுத்தி வருகின்றீர்கள். உங்களது கடந்த மாவீரர் தின உரை தமிழ் மக்களின் சிறந்த எதிர்காலத்துக்கு எந்தவித நம்பிக்கையையும் ஊட்டவில்லை. இருண்ட எதிர்காலத்தையே எதிர்வு கூறுகிறது. எமது நாட்டு மக்கள் வெளியேறும் வேகத்தைப் பார்க்கும் போது இலங்கையில் தமிழ் மக்களின் எண்ணிக்கை அவர்களுக்காக குரல் கொடுக்க ஆளின்றி மிகவும் பெருமளவில் குறைந்துவிடும் என்று எண்ணத் தோன்றுகிறது. வயது முதிர்ந்த தமிழ் பிரஜை என்ற வகையில் உங்களுக்கு கசப்பாக தோன்றினாலும் கூட உங்களது இன்றைய நிலைப்பாட்டையும் வெளிப்படுத்தும் மாவீரர் தின உரையில் உள்ள குறைபாடுகளை சுட்டிக்காட்ட வேண்டிய தார்மீக கடமை எனக்குண்டு. அதில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ள விடயங்கள் பல உண்மைக்கு புறம்பானதாகவும், திரிபுபடுத்தப்பட்டவையாகவும், மிகைப்படுத்தப்பட்டவையாகவும் தோன்றுகின்றன. உங்களை சரியான பாதைக்கு கொண்டுவரும் நோக்கத்துடனேயே இக் கடிதம் எழுதப்படுகின்றது என்பதை உறுதியாக தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன். President Mahinda Rajapakse has proposed the implementation of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution in a diluted form as the solution to the ethnic conflict when it was rejected by the principal Tamil political party, the TULF, 21 years back.
This rejection came in a letter to then Indian Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi and was signed by the party’s top three members, A. Amirthalingam, M. Sivasithamparam and R. Sampanthan.
Ironically, it is the present President of the TULF, V. Anandasangaree President Mahinda Rajapakse is now looking to in his efforts to gain credibility for the move by offering him the post of Governor, Northern Province.
Given the significance of the content of the TULF leadership’s letter to the Indian Prime Minister in the backdrop of India describing the current move as a ‘welcome first step,’ The Sunday Leader reproduces in full the letter dated October 28, 1987 for the readers to draw their own conclusions.
