The open letter President of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) and veteran Tamil politician V. Anandasangaree has written to Velupillai Prabhakaran should serve as an eye opener to not only Prabharakan but others as well. With five decades of experience as a politician of high calibre, he has spoken words of wisdom and pointed out what has gone wrong for the LTTE and shown the path to peace.

Mr. Anandasangaree is, no doubt, a hero of our time. He is one of the few Sri Lankan politicians (belonging to all ethnic communities) who have had the courage to adhere to their convictions without being swayed by terrorism or populist politics. (more…)

The text of a letter dated October 12, 2004 sent by TULF President V. Anandasangaree to LTTE Leader V. Prabhaharan:

I hope this letter will not surprise you. This is the third I am writing to you, although you had not replied to my earlier two letters.

You and I, like hundreds of thousands of Tamils living all over the world wish to see our People, settling down peacefully to lead normal lives with the Singhalese and the Muslims. Thousands of our people have died without seeing the dawn of peace. We must see our people back to normal life during our lifetime. This is the ambition of everyone.

What happened between you and your Eastern military commander Karuna , we do not know but when I heard about the split I pleaded for unity between both of you and expressed my wish that the merger of the North and the East achieved with the greatest difficulty by TULF leaders should be retained at any cost.
