“யோகசங்கரி” என்னும் மனிதனைப் போன்றவர்களின் தியாகத்தை எளிதில் மறந்து விட்டார்கள். லண்டனில் இவர்களைப் போலவே சகல வசதிகளுடன் வாழ்ந்து கொண்டு வாய்ச்சவாடால் அரசியல் பேசிக்கொண்டு வாழமுடிதவராக யோகசங்கரி இருக்கவில்லை.
விழித்துக்கொள்ள முடியாத ஆழ்ந்த தூக்கத்தில் புலம்பெயர் தமிழ் மக்கள் நடந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். தமது உறவினர்களை உண்மையாகவே பலிகொடுத்த சிலர் இந்தப் போராட்டங்களில் உணர்வுகளின் உச்சத்தில் நின்று ஈடுபடுவது இயற்கையே.
ஆனால் பாதுகாப்பு வலயத்தினுள் அகப்பட்டிருக்கும் தமிழ் மக்களை விடுவிக்கப் போராடுவதாக எண்ணி இப்போராட்டங்களில் யாராவது ஈடுபட்டார்களேயானால் அவர்கள் உண்மையாகவே மயக்கத்திலே தான் இருக்கிறார்கள் என்பதுவே கசப்பான உண்மை.
போராட்டம் யாருக்கெதிராக, யாருக்காக நடத்தப்படுகிறது என்பதைப் புலிகள் மறந்து பல நாட்களாவிட்ட உண்மையை இவர்கள் இன்னும் புரிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை. (more…)

Meet The Nation - Interview
Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) President and Secretary General of the newly established Democratic Tamil National Alliance (DTNA) V. Anandasangaree is an advocate of the Indian model as a panacea for the Sri Lankan ethnic conflict. He says since the people of Sri Lanka are allergic to the term ‘federal’, the Indian model could be the ideal one to find an ultimate solution. Anangasangaree met the visiting Indian foreign secretary Shiv Shankar Menon on Friday and told him that India should mount pressure on the Sri Lankan Government to find a proper political package acceptable to the Tamils soon. He told The Nation in an interview that crushing the LTTE is not the only answer to the ethnic question and that the government must now seriously consider evolving a political package. Anandasangaree is the winner of 2006 UNESCO Madanjeet Singh award for the promotion of tolerance and non violence. He has been in active politics in the country for the past fifty years. He started his political career by contesting against V.A. Sugathadasa at the CMC election in 1959. Prior to this, he was attached to the LSSP. He now leads the new DTNA – an alliance formed by Peoples Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) led by D. Sidharthan and the Eelam Peoples Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) led by Varadaraja Perumal.

Q: How do you view the on-going military conflict?
A: We can’t blame the government. The suffering of the people was so much that the people themselves wanted a break at any cost. So I myself have made several requests from the government to help the people living in the LTTE areas. I appealed to the UN secretary general too, telling him that people of Kilinochchi are willing to receive a friendly army. So people are happy that they are liberated. Of course there has been harassment by the government forces earlier in Chemmani and in some other places. But compared to the good old days, it is nothing now. Take the casualties for instance. I saw a statement from TNA leader Sampanthan saying that at the height of the war, only eight had died within two weeks. Even if we take the entire casualty figure it may be around 200. I am not justifying even this figure, but people must be liberated. So in that respect, I support the present war against the LTTE. (more…)

அரசியல் வன்முறைக்கு தனது கட்சித்தலைவர்கள் பலர் உட்பட பல சகாக்களையும்இ ஆதரவாளர்களையும் இழந்துள்ள ஆனந்தசங்கரி அவர்கள் தனது குடும்ப அங்கத்தவர்களையும் பயங்கரவாதத்திற்கு பலி கொடுத்திருக்கிறார். இவரது இளைய சகோதரர் வீரசிங்கம் ஞானசங்கரி புலிகளால் சுட்டுக்கொல்லப்பட்டார். ஞானசங்கரியின் இருபுதல்வர்களும் புலிகளால் கடத்தப்பட்டு இதுவரை காணாமற் போனவர்கள். அதேபோல் ஆனந்தசங்கரியின் மூத்த சகோதரரும் தென்மராட்சி பிரஜைகள் குழு தலைவரும் சட்டத்தரணியுமான வீரசிங்கம் இராஜசங்கரி அவர்கள் இந்திய அமைதிப்படை தங்கியிருந்த காலகட்டத்தில் சுடப்பட்டார். அவரை புலிகள் கௌரவப்படுத்தி நாட்டுப்பற்றாளர் இராசசங்கரி வீதி என ஒரு வீதிக்கும் பெயரிட்டிருந்தனர். அதேவேளை ஆனந்தசங்கரி அவர்களின் பெறாமகனும் யாழ் மாவட்ட பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினருமான யோகசங்கரி அவர்கள் சென்னையில் வைத்து புலிகளால் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்டார். கடந்த வருடம் லண்டனில் இடம்பெற்ற பயங்கரவாத குண்டுத்தாக்குதலில் ஆனந்த சங்கரியின் பெறாமகளான சயனுஜா பரதசங்கரி பலியானார். இதுபோன்ற இழப்புக்கள் எனக்கு மட்டுமல்ல ஒவ்வொரு தமிழ்மக்களது குடும்பத்திலும் ஏற்பட்டிருக்கிறது. ஆயுதப்போராட்டம் எமக்கு பெற்றுத்தந்த பலன் இதுதான் என்கிறார் ஆனந்த சங்கரி.

His abhorrence of war and espousal of non - violence stems very much from very personal loss, suffering and pain. Sangaree has lost many relatives to political violence and terror. His elder brother Rajasangaree was the chairman of Chavakachcheri Citizens committee during the Indian Army period. Rajasangaree spoke out against Indian army atrocities and was killed by the EPRLF on Oct 26th 1988.
Anandasangaree’s younger brother Gnanasangaree was killed in Kilinochchi by the LTTE for criticing the tigers publicly. This happened on Feb 10th 1988. Two of Gnanasangaree’s sons spoke out publicly against their father’s killing. They were taken away by the tigers for questioning. They never returned.
Another brother Ganeshasangaree’s son was Yogasangaree. This nephew of Anandasangaree was elected as an EPRLF member of Parliament for Jaffna district in 1989. On June 19th 1990 Yogasangaree was in Madras for an EPRLF meeting at Kodambakkam with Secretary - General Padmanabha. LTTE assassins suddenly entered and sprayed the hall with machine gun fire. Fourteen including Padmanabha and Yogasangaree died.
On July 7th 2005 Islamic “terrorists” set off human bomb explosions in subway trains and a surface bus. One of those killed was a young girl of Sri Lankan origin. She was Sayanuja the daughter of another brother of Anandasangaree named Parathasangaree.

The funeral of Sajjnuja Parathasangari, a British national of Sri Lankan origin who perished in the terrorist bomb blasts here on July 7, was held here yesterday.
Ms. Parathasangari, a niece of TULF leader V. Anandasangari was travelling in the No 30 bus passing Kings Cross when it was blown up by a suicide bomber, one hour or so after the rest of the suicide team had already exploded the devices they were carrying on three different tube trains.
Though Ms. Parathasangari had obtained British nationality, Sri Lanka High Commissioner Kshenuka Senewiratne and the deputy high commissioner visited the residence of her parents on Thursday and spent about half an hour there.
Ms. Parathasangari’s body was released to the next of kin several days after the incident during which her identity was established and forensic examinations were conduct to ascertain the cause of death.
Another person of Sri Lankan origin, Praveen Wijendran, who was injured in the blast at Liverpool Street was under treatment at St Thomas Hospital in London.
Sri Lanka High Commission officials who tried to visit Wijendran in hospital to provide any possible assistance are said to have been told by hospital authorities that they would need to obtain official permission to visit the patient as he was a British citizen.
Meanwhile sections of the Tamil community are worried that the inevitable increase in anti-terrorism surveillance and the targeting of Muslims since the bombings might affect them too.
Since the first-ever suicide bombings in Britain, the pioneering activities of the Tamil Tigers in suicide attacks have figured in British media coverage.
A Tamil resident who did not want to be identified said that a recent reference by a leader of Britain’s Muslim Parliament to the suicide bombings done by the LTTE during an ITN television interview had focused attention on the Tigers and generally on Tamils.
There were also references in the print media such as The Guardian and another report from New Delhi referring to the suicide missions carried out by the Tigers.
The Tamils who spoke on conditions of anonymity said that the recent killings in Northeastern and Eastern Sri Lanka have revived fears of a return to war and therefore the glare of media publicity that will focus on the Tamil community.
“Unfortunately the suicide bombings by Muslims have angered some of the British people. We hear one Muslim has been killed and others attacked. We hope that this anger will not turn against us Tamils too because of the LTTE.”
They said that the Tamil community had come under scrutiny following several killings, criminal frauds and other crimes.
“You must have heard that Scotland Yard has started a special unit for Tamil crimes. Now we might come under surveillance again by the anti-terrorism people,” said one who fears that the Tamils might come under the microscope because of the activities of others of Asian origin.

The last memory Ruth Parathasangary has of her daughter was as she left home on the morning of 7 July, heading for work.
“She did not say anything when she left. She just gave me a sweet smile.”
Born in Sri Lanka, Shyanuja Parathasangary was brought to the UK in the 1970s at the age of one, when her father, Sangary, was given the chance to study in Britain.
She and her older sister Sindhu quickly adapted to their adopted country and Shyanuja followed her mother’s religion, Christianity, rather than her father’s, Hinduism.
She worshipped at the Fernhead Road Methodist Church in Paddington, west London, but was said to be tolerant and understanding of other faiths.
‘Many friends’
Living in Kensal Green, north London, Ms Parathasangary, 30, worked as an assistant buyer for the Royal Mail at offices in the centre of the city.
Known as Shaynu or Shy, Ms Parathasangary had “an outgoing personality and made many friends”, according to her parents.
She was the sweetest, most generous girl you could ever meet

She could often be found on Thursday evenings enjoying the company of her friends Nell Raut and Andrea Cummings at Chiquito, a Mexican restaurant in Staples Corner, north-west London, according to the Guardian.
“It was kind of a tradition for us,” Ms Raut told the paper.
“That, and we would also go to the movies once or twice a week.”
Ms Parathasangary would laugh at pretty much anything, Ms Raut added.
‘Angelic’
She was also said to have recently bought a house with her sister, which was a source of great pride to her.
She might have avoided the 7 July attacks but for the fact she left for work later than usual because she had been feeling unwell.
She died in the blast on the number 30 bus in Tavistock Square.
“We adored our daughter. With so much to live for she paid the price of man’s wickedness to man,” her parents said in a statement.
“She was the sweetest, most generous girl you could ever meet. No-one had a bad word to say about her. She was angelic.
“We’re all devastated and can’t imagine life without her.”

முன்னாள் கிளிநொச்சி பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் திரு. வீ. ஆனந்தசங்கரியின் சகோதரான திரு. ஞானசங்கரி எல். ரி. ரி. ஈ. தீவிரவாதிகளால் கொல்லப்பட்டதாக பொலிஸ் வட்டாரங்கள் தெரிவித்தன.
செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை 6 மணியளவில் யாழ்ப்பாணம் கண்டி விதியில் அவரது சடலம் காணப்பட்டதாக கிளிநொச்சி பொலிசார் தெரிவித்தனர்.
இக்கொலை பற்றி கிளிநொச்சி இந்தியப்படையினர் விசாரணைகளை மேற் கொண்டுள்ளனர்.
களுதாவளையில்:
களுதாவளையில் இந்தியப் படையினர் செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை சோதனை நடவடிக்கையில் இடுபட்டிருந்தசமயம் தப்பியோட முயன்ற ஒரு சிறுவனை சுட்டுக் காயப்படுத்தியுள்ளனர். பின்னர் சைனைட் அருந்த முயன்ற சிறுவனை தடுத்துவிட்ட படையினர் முகாமில் சிகிச்சை யளித்துள்ளனர்.
எனினும் சிறிது நேரத்தின் பின்னர் அவர் மணங்கி விழுந்து இறந்து விட்டாராம். அவரிடம் எல். ரி. ரி. ஈ. அடையாள அட்டை ஒன்று காணப்பட்டதாயும் அதில் சிவம் என்ற பெயர் இருந்ததாகவும் பொலிஸார் கூறினர்.
